Vision: ‘Scandi-Ed-ish’

In order to maintain motivation and excitement for teaching, learning and living life we must look to the world around us and ask our communities near and far for direction and advice on how to shape Education, ensuring we adopt and engage the most relevant, effective and useful methods, and of course reviewing them stringently, collectively and honestly at every turn.

At my primary school, in Denmark, the local forest was our gym, biology lab, arts and crafts supply store, and whole school function space; the beach was our excursion destination for nearly all subjects; and the neighbouring nursing home provided community service opportunities and valuable mentoring sessions from our elders.

Scandinavian education stands out for its exceptional quality due to several key factors. Firstly, these countries prioritise equity and equality, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education regardless of their background or socio-economic status. Additionally, the educational systems in Scandinavia focus on holistic development, valuing not only academic achievement but also social and emotional well-being. This approach is supported by smaller class sizes, which allow teachers to provide personalised attention and support to each student.

My overarching vision is guiding schools towards operating from a constant commitment to equity, holistic development, personalised learning, life-skills lessons, whole school project-based/inquiry/SOLE models and continuous professional growth.

Review, reflect, re-do = the heartbeat of successful schools.

"Review, reflection, and redoing are not just steps in a process; they're the heartbeat of progress for any successful team. Embracing the power of learning from our experiences, we chart a course toward excellence, continually refining our strategies and approaches. Through this iterative cycle, we not only correct our course but also foster a culture of growth, resilience, and shared achievement."
